Gaining Supremacy through Servant-hood
Supremacy is desired by everyone, but the pattern of leadership demonstrated through Christ is that of servant-hood, saying “If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all and servant of all”. Although, John testified of Christ as the one who is from heaven to be above all, and his dominion is everlasting, Jesus fulfilled all righteousness by choosing to obey God and be baptized by John, who is lower in rank according to divine task given to him to prepare the way for Jesus. And being found in the appearance as a man, Christ humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestow on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth. God has raised us up with him and seated us in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of his grace in kindness towards us in Christ Jesus. But what manner of wisdom, love and humility is this?
Jesus faces death for all of human race despite the fact that he has power over death. In his humanity, he was tempted in every way just as we are, but yet he was without sin even though he was a son he learned obedience through the things that he suffered, showing to you and I that the way to life is death, and the way to Godly supremacy and divine wisdom is through obedience to God’s word and willingness to serve God and one another. Phi 2:7-10, Eph 2:6, Heb 4:15b, 5:8
The psalmist says, “What is mankind that you are mindful of them, and human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet”. So having given us authority and power over everything and all operations of the devil, It is expedient to note that the expectation of Jesus for every Believer is that whatever is subjected to Jesus must be subjected to us. Psa 8:5-6, Luk 10:19
In order to walk in our God given authority and power to rule and reign as Kings and priest unto our God, we must be willing and ready to go the way of the cross, aligning ourselves to the word of God, for a servant could not be greater than his master. So we need to humble ourselves and become submissive to the authority of God’s word, such that the power and wisdom for supremacy without contention can be made visible in and through our lives such that we can do exploits
Consider this:
- 13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. 14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? 15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer [it to be so] now: for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he suffered him. [Mat 3:13-15 KJV]
- Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; [Heb 5:8 KJV]
- For we have not an high priest which could not be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. [Heb 4:15 KJV]
- And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. [Rev 5:10 KJV]
If we suffer, we shall also reign with [him]: if we deny [him], he also will [2Tim 2:12 KJV]
